During my time training as a 911 communications operator I went to the fire department 180. After a long day in the field we all sat down to eat dinner and I was introduced to this game where whoever loses cleans up dinner. What a fun experience and that is where I took that concept home to our table which turned into a nightly family tradition.
Each evening following our meal, we engage in a dice game known as 1,4,24. The individual who loses the game is tasked with tidying up after dinner. This tradition fosters family closeness and adds an element of enjoyment to the chore of cleaning up after dinner, which isn't typically a favorite task.
Game Objective is to utilize six dice to secure a 1 and a 4 while aiming for the highest score achievable with the other four dice, with a maximum score of 24.
How to play: The game requires six dice. The player initiates by rolling all six dice. Following each roll, the player must retain at least one die and proceed to re-roll the remainder. Once a die is retained, it cannot be rolled again. A turn concludes once all dice have been retained.
It is imperative for a player to retain a 1 and a 4, failing which results in disqualification. The total of the remaining four dice determines the score, with the highest attainable score being 24.
The winner is determined by the player with the highest score.
